Board of Governors

The Centre’s Board of Governors consist of a Chairman, Members of the Board, and Chief Executive who conduct themselves in an honorary capacity for the betterment of the Centre as a whole.
The present Chairman is Mr. Hiran de Alwis, a senior legal counsel in Colombo and possesses a Post Graduate Diploma in Law (International Dispute Resolution) from the University of London and a LL.B Degree from the University of Colombo. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London). He also is a long standing member of the Board.

BOARD DUTIES

Being able to draw from a vast knowledge pool of specialists to collectively address a multitude of requirements remains a growing need of any entity. The Sri Lanka National Arbitration Centre continues to benefit from possessing a Board of Directors that comprise skilled legal practitioners and professionals who have left an indelible mark in various trade chambers and financial bodies. The Centre’s Board of Governors consist of a Chairman, Members of the Board, Honorary Chief Executive and Chief Legal Advisor who conduct themselves in an Honorary capacity for the betterment of the Centre as a whole.

From its inception, senior lawyer, the late Mr. Edgar Cooray was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer/Legal Advisor to the Centre.

Mr. Seedantha Kulatilake performs the duties of Chief Executive. He is an Attorney-at-Law and processes an MBA specialized in Marketing. He counts many years of experience in the Corporate Sector locally and globally and has held senior managerial positions in financial services.

Amongst the Centre’s former Chairman is Mr. Romesh de Silva, President’s Counsel one of the finest civil and commercial practitioners in the country with a wealth of experience. Mr. de Silva has appeared as counsel in a number of arbitral matters both locally and internationally and has also served as President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka and is presently the Chairman of the Law Commission of Sri Lanka.

Further, Dr. Eddie de Zylva has also acted as the Chairman of the SLNAC. Dr. de Zylva is an acclaimed professional in the country’s construction sector and was the Chairman of the Construction Guarantee Fund. Additionally the Centre is represented by numerous institutional members in Sri Lanka which include the Presently Mr.Sujeiva Samaraweera, from the private sector.
