The fundamental objective of the Sri Lanka National Arbitration Centre is to further the operation and conduct of arbitration while being seen as facilitator, registrar, coordinator of accommodation facilities, provider of secretarial services and other necessary duties. The portfolio of services found at the Centre includes 4 fully air-conditioned chambers which can be used for the purpose of conducting sittings. The chambers are well equipped and comprise of adequate seating and table arrangements.
The centre also facilitates hotel accommodation during instances where international arbitration hearings are scheduled. The SLNAC comprises of a state of the art secretariat which is managed by the Chief Operations officer, Registrar and Support staff which undertakes all correspondence and accounts.
Upon request, a team of experienced English stenographers will be available for the carrying out of efficient and reliable secretarial services. The record of all proceedings will be taken in shorthand and later taped using electronic recorders. Interpreters and Sinhala stenographers can also be provided.
The Centre ensures the timely dispatch of records of proceedings to the Arbitrators, Legal Counsel and the parties concerned. This task will be done within a week of the date of the sitting; therefore maintaining an accurate, trustworthy and speedy service as per the stipulated directions and instructions. Complete confidentiality safeguarding of all forms of documentation of the arbitral hearing is guaranteed and maintained by the Registrar. Certified copies of same will be produced before Court and for other instances.
